Two new published articles for Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month

I’m very proud to share with you two new articles that I put a lot of heart and soul into. They are both for a new Jewish publication in the DC area called, Kol HaBirah, Voice of the Capitol. One is about Sunflower Bakery’s professional training programs for young adults with learning differences, and the other is about the Miami Marathon fundraising trip for Friendship Circle of Maryland.

Fun Craft for Tu B’shevat or Anytime!

This past Sunday I had the pleasure of conducting one of my Fruit Funshops for Friendship Circle of Maryland, in honor of Tu b’shevat. If you want to do a fun activity with your kids for Tu b’shevat, keep reading for photos and instructions! Tu B’shevat is the birthday of the trees! Here are some …

This year, Giving Tuesday comes BEFORE Black Friday

Last year Black Friday bled into Thanksgiving Day and this year it essentially began on Monday of Thanksgiving week. The following week we can look forward to Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday. That is the American order. “After you feel guilty for your gluttony, please give to charity.” But in my world, Jewish values tell me that giving charity (tzedekah) comes way before buying tchotchkes. So this morning ( I’ll spare you the details) but after a few days of migraines, I needed to re-hydrate with a natural hydration drink.

It’s official: “I’m Only Half Crazy”

Have you seen those bumper stickers that say, “I’m only half crazy?” That means that person completed a half marathon (13.1 miles vs. a whole marathon of 26.2 miles). The Miami Marathon and Half Marathon is over; I walked the entire 13.1 miles; so now I’m officially half crazy! Yay!

As many of you know, I have been raising money and training for many months for the Miami Marathon, on behalf of Friendship Circle of Maryland. We were the third largest team, only behind Brooklyn and Miami. As promised by Friendship Circle, the weekend was elegant and inspiring.
