Purim is the usual type of Jewish holiday… “They tried to kill us. It didn’t work. Let’s eat!” But there are several mitzvot (commandments) and minhagim (customs) very particular to Purim. These make plenty of work for parents and plenty of fun for kids. I’m giving you easy ideas for a few of the requirements and customs: HAMANTASCHEN, MISHLOACH MANOT and your PURIM SEUDAH.
These are all great family recipes, whether you celebrate Purim, are vegan, vegetarian or not. Who doesn’t want a warm, one-pot meal at the end of the day? …Especially when your kids are tugging on your sleeve to get to shul for Megillah and the all-important costume contest!

Although I don’t want to be working too hard for Mother’s Day brunch, I do want to put in the effort and try this whole carrot lox phenomena (Don’t worry…I’ll give my fish-eating guests the real thing!).
